As I look back on 2025, the highlight of the year for me was, without question, my AFA tour to Medellin in September. I previously went on an AFA tour to Mexico City in 2024 and I enjoyed it very much. But the Medellin tour was better. Much better.

You are very well organized and have everything down to a science. Your entire staff were very accommodating and helpful. You gave each of us all the attention we needed. It is obvious you all love what you do and are perfect for your jobs.

AFA did a wonderful job on their first tour to Japan. The hotel we stayed at, Grand Nikko, had a gorgeous view and was conveniently located near the Odiba train station and a few shopping malls.

There was three speed dating events where AFA partnered with, I believe, 2 other agencies. One California-based company, called TJM (traditional Japanese matchmakers), and the other is local in Tokyo.

Before I dive any deeper, let’s just set expectations now. This tour isn’t the Philippines, where you are GUARANTEED to have at least 1 date with a woman, no matter how you look or how old you are!!!

These women are NOT desperate nor ready to hop on the next plane to wherever you are from after 2-3 dates. So let’s just set expectations now.

A common complaint I heard while talking to the guys was:

1. “The woman said I’m too old”

2. “They are too busy to go on a date.”

3. “I don’t know who my matches are.”

These women are working women, and although the event is held on a weekend, most of them work on weekdays.

Now let’s talk about the event. There were 3 events! Two on Saturday, one on Sunday. All are speed dating events.

This means you will have 5 minutes to talk 1-on-1 with the women at each table. Then you rotate. You are given a sheet to mark which girl you are interested in. At the end of the event, the sheets are collected, and if you match with a woman who likes you, you get an email or message from AFA group leader which was Irene for us; otherwise, you don’t. I suspect this part will be the biggest complaint from the guys on the tour, because many didn’t know who matched with them, but that is also because some sadly just didn’t have matches… Some of the guys were visibly upset, but I mean, you can’t force a girl to like you, right?

Also, 5 minutes doesn’t seem like a lot of time, and it’s not if you’re really into a girl, but if you’re at a table where there’s no chemistry or you just aren’t attracted, then 5 minutes is more than enough time. There were a few tables I was happy the time flew by, because we had nothing in common and were talking to be polite.

The women were, on average, in their mid 30s to early 40s. The youngest woman was 29. There were like two women of this age. Expect the majority to be closer to the AFA clients’ age. So, for my group, 35 to early 40s was where these women hovered.

It seemed like mid-30s to early-40s was the sweet spot for the girls here when choosing a guy to go on a date with, so unfortunately, age did play a factor. None of us were built like Greek gods, so if that’s you reading this post, your mileage may vary, my friend—God speed.

The rest of us average-looking guys, please adjust your expectations. This isn’t the Philippines, where you can be 70 dating a 19-year-old. These women have standards and do seem very picky for their age. They were very polite but also very picky. This isn’t a sex tour. These women aren’t “easy.”

After the speed dating, AFA planned 3 events for the guys. The first was dinner on a cruise ship. We had the top floor rented out to us. For those of us who had dates, we could invite them on the cruise. For the unlucky guys, AFA made sure to work with their partners to invite another set of girls to talk to and mingle with. Although I saw few guys take advantage of that so the women just hung out at a table by their selves for most of the event. One guy saw and took the opportunity. Most did not.

The next day, AFA took us to a really cool samurai exhibit in Tokyo. There, you could buy dull katanas if you liked, but good luck getting that through customs.

The final event was a private bus tour halfway to Mt. Fuji, during which we also visited other places along the way. How far you can get to Mt. Fuji by bus depends on the season and how early you leave. We left at like 8:30am.

For the price, I felt like I got my money’s worth. I met three girls, and I had wonderful dates with them. One of the girls I dated is in Lovescouts’ last post, Yuki, in the first picture, was very cool, polite, and down to earth. She’s a good one if you match with her!

In general, Japanese women are very respectful, so it may be hard to tell when you’re there whether they really like you or are just being polite. You’ll know for sure when you message her and she ignores you lol. Some will give you their numbers and not respond lol.

I didn’t see any quick proposals like on other tours, nor did I see any girl, including the ones I talked to, rush into a relationship. The consensus among all of us guys is that they all wanted to take things slow, as in talking and not “hey, let’s bet boyfriend and girlfriend.” So they’re cautious about their future and who they choose.

If you want an excuse to go to Japan and possibly meet a wife, this is worth the money!! AFA treated us well! Irene is a wonderful group tour leader for AFA! This was a wonderful experience. I will be back next year, better prepared for Japanese women, so maybe I’ll see some of you here!

Finally, some advice if you go

1. BE POLITE & RESPECTFUL!! One of the girls I dated told me that a few men came off as rude, and she immediately lost interest. I dug a little deeper and even overheard some guys saying, “They are here to impress me.” I’m sorry to burst your bubble, but unless you’re built like a Greek God or won the generic lottery, they’ll most likely be turned off by that attitude. They aren’t desperate, trust me brother.

2. Polos are nice, BUT if you can, RENT two nice pairs of FITTED suits. Why? Most of the guys who wore a nice suit had a date right after the event and came off as more classy.

3. These women couldn’t care less about your material items. Again, they aren’t desperate. Yes, they care that you have a job, but they don’t care to hear about you flaunting your material items. Focus on getting to know her! Make the conversation about her! Not your material items or money.

4. Be well groomed! Get a hair cut, smell good, trim your beard. In other words prepare like you’re a guest speaker on Ted Talks and that mug of a face is on full display.

This advice seems obvious but as they say, “common sense ain’t common.”

The trip to Peru exceeded my expectations. The people in the office were wonderful. Always willing to help. The socials and the tours were exceptional!

I noted above I would go on another tour with you because I want to share the indication that I liked the tour and I like what AFA is doing. However I hope the current relationship from the tour will be successful, in which case a subsequent tour will not be necessary.

The entire experience was great overall, with a wonderful staff. Irene, the office manager, planned a great tour with plenty of events and get togethers outside of the socials. The interpreter that was assigned to me for the events, Lexi, was amazing and I recommend that she be invited back as often as possible. The socials themselves were a good time and I enjoyed them, though I do have some suggestions. Having more then 2 women at a table felt like to much and that we did not have much time to interact with each of the ladies present. The social in Guangzhou that was done alongside the other agency there was good with just the one on ones with us and the ladies, though with only 5 minutes between switching and some women not making it to the next table, some of us only had just a minute before it was time to move again. For that, longer time but also not having it start until all of the women moved. I enjoyed the 2nd and 3rd socials and traveling for them !

As it was nice to see other areas of China, but for those I would suggest not doing them back to back. In the case of this tour, the first day was in Shenzhen, then we travelled to Zhuhai on day 2 and day 3 to Guangzhou. There were several women from the 1st social that I never got to arrange a date with because there was just no time. Had we not had back to back travelling, I feel I would have been able to go out with them as well. Outside of those few things, I felt that everything was arranged and handled wonderfully. The socials were all entertaining, I met several women, a few of whom I am still talking with a month later, met lots of wonderful people from the AFA staff to the other men on the tour and would very much consider going on another tour if things do not work out with the any of the women I am still speaking with.

I went to mexico, that's not a choice for what city and country did I travel to, so I just put colombia,Medellin. I really enjoyed this tour, great group of guys and the team in mexico was the best!! John and Tonya were great hosts, I met someone special. I have been on the Ukraine tour in 2017, Mexico City Tour in 2024 and the Bangkok Tour 2025. The Bangkok tour was my favorite because of how attractive and apporachable the women were. Also, Bangkok is a terrific city to visit with plenty of fun things to do.

My first trip to China was quite the adventure, I had a great time. I really enjoyed the kind atmosphere and the delicious food. The socials were a great way to get out of my comfort zone and get to know a lot of different people. I learned a bit about the Chinese culture and what values the people hold. Everyone was so nice, it felt easy to talk with everyone. Throughout the week and the 5 socials I quickly realized that I might have been a little too young for everyone, however, that didn't stop me from enjoying my time. I only met 2 women that were in my age group and that were a good match for me. I'm still in contact with the both of them and things are going well so far. I want to believe that one of them might end up being someone dear to me, only time will tell.

To be honest, if things don't work out with either of them then I'll most likely decide to attend another singles tour in the future, but I hope I won't need to do that. I want to thank Ken and Irene for being excellent hosts and guides, I know they worked really hard for us and every event was enjoyable. I want to also thank all the translators for being amazing, they were all really helpful and fun to be around. Lastly, I want to thank all the guys that were there, looking for the same thing I was. You guys made this trip feel like going to a summer camp with your buddies. The comradery really tied everything together, we were a group of guys just having a great time in China. Thank you everyone for this memorable Shenzhen Tour, I won't forget this wonderful experience.

My search for love with a foreign lady led me to 'A Foreign Affair' (AFA), with whom I have been engaged with for close to a year.

Anna Stewart, who oversees all of AFA's Ukraine offices, has been incredible to work with. She not only oversees the tours to Ukraine, but coordinates all of the administrative functions pertaining to Ukrainian matchmaking, in AFA's Phoenix headquarters.

I recently went on a two city tour (Kiev, Odessa) to Ukraine and had the privilege of working closely with Anna throughout the process. My itinerary was complex, as there is an ongoing war in Ukraine. Nevertheless, everything went like clockwork.

I arrived in Moldova, whereupon a bus was waiting for me. The journey to Odessa, my hotel booking, all went off without a hitch.

There were social events organized by Anna and her team, along with daily introductions, translator services, scenic visits etc, all of which were coordinated by Anna and her team.

Anna is an invaluable asset to AFA and has been an absolute pleasure to work with.

I had a great time at the dating events this past weekend. I thought it was well organized and professional, the best speed dating events I have attended here in Thailand or my home country, USA.

I was very happy with both the quantity and the quality of ladies present. I'm not sure the exact count, but there had to be 7 or 8 ladies for every man that was in attendance, each night. All age groups were represented from early 20's to mid 50's, the ladies were all attractive, dressed very nicely and most spoke at least passable English.

This was the first time I had the support of my own personal translator/wing woman. She did a great job helping with any language translations, keeping track of all ladies that either had interest in me, or that I had in them. This was very helpful as it is not easy to remember names, contact info etc... when you are meeting 80-90 quality ladies in just a few hours over 2 evenings. I received many like letters from the ladies and my translator took photos and contact info from many more ladies. It was a very successful evening. I have communicated with several ladies after the event, and I look forward to starting the dating process soon.

I was able to get your email because I wanted to let you know one of the folks that worked with you was exemplary, Anna. I will admit that I was cautious and skeptical about your agency, the website and its legitimacy when I first signed up. I did not meet anyone and, to be honest, when I started writing messages, the responses that I received from two different women appeared to be identical in terms of their vocabulary, sentence structure, cadence, etc. I continued to fight the urge to discontinue. Afterall, I had invested well over $1,000 at that point. Here is where Anna came in. She was professional and gracious from the very start. I was only going to be in town for 4 days. In that time, I arranged to meet 4 women. Mexico City is a dynamic place where scheduling can be a real challenge. She set things up for each and every meeting with no hiccups. She was informative to all of my questions. She was protective of the women she represented which I had deep respect for. She was also kind, understanding and informative throughout the entire process. There was not a single time in what otherwise would have felt hectic and coming off the rails, that she did not provide me with the comfort that everything was going to go as planned. The result, I was able to spend my time and energy getting to know 4 lovely women that you represent. Anna is a woman of character. She gave your agency credibility in my eyes. Because of her, I will not hesitate to let anyone I know to utilize your agency. Being in the service industry, referred clients are worth more than gold. She is an asset and hope that you treat as such. Please be sure that she knows that her talent and attention to detail is valued by those that seek her services.

The tour to Odessa and Kiev was one the most rewarding experiences of my life. We received a call from John expressing his concern about the situation in Ukraine in light of Zelensky's visit to USA. That showed me that the company is more concerned about the welfare of its customers than making money.

Everything on the tour ran like clockwork. Anna had asked for my itinerary prior to departure. She had scheduled the bus to transport me from Chisina to Odessa and a driver back from Odessa.

The ladies that assisted the men with appointments were simply outstanding. Olga, Ad Helen were assigned to me and accommodated my schedule. The translators were top notch and the socials well planned.

Sadly, I did not find my soulmate, but it was in no part the fault of AFA.

I would like to schedule one of the south American tours later in the year.

I have been on several tours in the past and the Medellin Tour was perhaps the best so far. The staff was extremely attentive and I also had the opportunity to meet Maria the manager during my stay. During our pre-tour meeting Maria had excellent advice for the men on the tour. This was probably the best pre-meeting before the start of the tour I have seen. I also had the opportunity to meet someone special on the tour. If all goes well this will be my last tour. Instead of going back to the Philippines I decided to give Peru a try because John Adams said it was one of his favorite places. The vacation did not upset. Beautiful ladies. The staff in Peru from Sara to Ron, to the office staff was exceptional. I would recommend a group tour over an individual tour any day. Although I took an individual tour last year, this one was more worthwhile and more captivating. I met and will remain friends with one of the gentlemen from New York who was at the social. He also acted as my Interpreter since he spoke fluent Spanish. We spent many double dates together. He also has found his loved one in life. My fiance' Nanya and I very much appreciate all of AFA from the administration down to the local Bangkok staff. Every one of you did an EXCELLENT job with everything regarding the tour. I was the first one on our tour to make a decision to ask a lady to marry me. Thank God she said yes!!!

Everyone with AFA has been a big help to us. I've hired Laurie Wu to help us with the visa. Actually, Nanya is currently driving 9 hours to her hometown to get some information for Laurie. She woke up at 3 am to get there by lunchtime. The list is extensive, but we are working on everything to get Nanya here with me as soon as we can. At least the process for us to get married is short once I get her here.

I know that the letters between the men and ladies are played down, but that is specifically what had Nanya convinced that she wanted to be with me. She didn't even want to talk with any other men. I was the only man who wrote her a letter, and she told me several times that "Buddha sent me to her." She was 100% convinced that I was the only man that she wanted to be with. Thank God she was at the first social. After meeting all of the ladies, Nanya and I talked for several hours at the social event as they were closing the restaurant. Because of the letters, I knew that she was a hard working lady and that her feet and lower legs hurt her from working 13 hours each day, 7 days per week. I brought her some compression socks to the social, and they were a perfect fit! I wouldn't have had any idea of this had I not written her ahead of time. I want to be the best husband and take care of her every need. Thanks to the letters, I was able to bring this to Bangkok with me. By the time we finished talking at the social, we knew that we were the one for each other. All of the things that we talked about took care of all of my concerns about her without her even knowing that I had concerns.

Few and Sasirn from your AFA Bangkok staff were touched by our letters to each other. Without the hard work of Few and Sisirin, Nanya and I might not be together. I want to highlight them because I don't believe that they, nor the people in their roles in other offices, get enough credit. They are key to your organization. Their people skills and translation skills are enormously important. I hope that you will continue to offer the letters. Also, the letters will help Nanya and I in the process of getting her fiancé visa. They were definitely extremely important to us. I hope more people will use them. Also, using the letters, some ladies were able to decide against me, and I was able to decide against certain ladies before I ever arrived in Bangkok. If all of the men on tours did this, it would save everyone so much time. I know that there were several guys that were unprepared when they arrived in Bangkok. That puts extra pressure on your staff and the men on tour to work hard in a short period of time to find the ladies that they want to meet, set up dates for them, and make sure that the ladies actually show up for the dates. Because of the letters, I had 6 ladies wanting to meet me at the first social-which wound up being 5 ladies. I had 2 ladies wanting to meet me at the second social. I had 2 more dates already set up for the Sunday and Wednesday after the socials before I ever arrived in Bangkok. Of those 10 ladies I just mentioned, only 3 of them were actually in Bangkok. The rest of them were a 3 hour drive or longer from the social or the AFA office. Some flew into Bangkok. Others drove to Bangkok. One lady took a bus to Bangkok. If I hadn't written these ladies, I would have never had the opportunity to meet them. They wouldn't have made a 3 hour or longer drive to Bangkok for no reason. I implore every man who signs up for the tour to research the profiles and videos, write letters to the ladies that they're interested in--before they travel to the tour. I know that the Bangkok staff had to work extremely hard to take care of everyone.

If the men on the tour would put in the time ahead of time, their tour would be so much easier, and they would have more time to get to know the ladies that they really want to get to know. It's important to rule out ladies that you know aren't a match because there are so many ladies to choose from. You may think that they are a possibility until you write to them and find out otherwise.

We had several engagements on our tour, but we would have even more if the men on tour did more "leg work" ahead of time. As always, you get more out of it, if you put more into it. I wanted us to have 100% of the guys engaged before they left Bangkok. Your staff did the absolute best they could to make this happen. Each one of them worked tirelessly to make sure that everyone had the best experience possible. Unfortunately for some, it didn't happen, but that was not the fault of your staff. I remain hopeful that all of the men on tour have made the right connections to eventually find the love of their lives.

Leonard, Rally Car Paul and his wonderful wife, Som and Tall Paul all did a great job of taking care of all of us and making our experience a wonderful one that we will never forget.

Rob, Ronna Lou, Daniel, Tong and Ting all did a great job, and I hope that our story will attract more people to AFA. Daniel and I made an instant connection, being that we're both originally from Mississippi. Nanya and I had the best time working with Daniel. He is very helpful, friendly and does a great job with the whole filming and production process. He filmed us at Wat Arun, a famous temple in Bangkok, and at the AFA office.

Nanya and I can't thank AFA enough for providing us a platform to meet each other. Without you, our lives would not have been changed drastically for the better. Nanya and I are more than willing to help AFA in any way we can. We've already talked with many ladies about joining AFA, and Leonard is in the process of getting them into the AFA system. I'm sure we will convince even more ladies and hopefully men to join AFA when Nanya and I are married. We will never stop trying to get ladies and men to join AFA.

I have been divorced for 20 years, and I would never have found a truly wonderful lady like Nanya who truly loves me and wants to marry me in the U.S. She has also struggled to find love in Thailand. We are so happy together thanks to AFA!!!

Also, all of the men on the tour worked well together and looked out for one another. Nanya and I went on double dates with some of our friends on the tour. We had awesome shared experiences that we will never forget. We had a great group that was truly interested in making sure that everyone found the love of their life. Also, Kuhn A, the Concierge at Solitaire, did an excellent job of taking care of all of us. He always had us a taxi ready to take us anywhere. He set up an unforgettable river dinner cruise for us and another couple. He set up a comfortable long distance taxi for us, also. Their restaurant served excellent food and had excellent staff. They had a good breakfast for us each day. I highly recommend using the Solitaire hotel again. They were very good to all of us.

I have already told all of my friends and family that the trip to Thailand was the best trip I've ever taken in my life! I love to travel, but this is by far the trip of a lifetime!

I had nothing short of a first class experience. This was my second tour and in fairness to Gustavo and his sister it was during the pandemic, but what I will tell you is Manuela and her team are very organized and work extremely hard to make everything happen. They are incredibly warm and friendly, and go above and beyond to make sure the clients are taken care of. There's not enough room in this dialog box for what I have to say all of which is positive. As I mentioned in my response to the email, I did a nice Google review that Manuela can forward to you. I guess it's specific to Afa Colombia, but I still think it's worth reading. I have a few suggestions and would like to speak about a few opportunities with John so he's welcome to call me at his convenience. The only reason I didn't put a response down for would I be going on another tour is I can’t answer that with any confidence based on the fact, I'm trying to grow a relationship with someone I met on the tour!. If it goes well, the answer is no, if it doesn't work out then I would think I would go on another tour for sure.

I really did have a good time and I turn 62 years on the Barranquilla Tour on July 22 they gave me a cake on my birthday this tour was better than last years tour I learn a lot on this tour this will be my last tour with Barranquilla if I do go back it will be a club tour. On this tour I felt much better than I did last year I had more dates that I did last year this is not easy for me John this was my 3nd tour with AFA and Maria and Michelle did a great on the tour it was a very busy tour during there 4th of July. I would like to compliment one of your employees. Her name is Briana. I have terrible computer skills and I have no idea how to upload photos. I called your company hoping someone could help me accomplish this. I was truly fortunate to be connected with Briana. So many companies in this day and age have terrible customer service that I wasn't sure what to expect. I must tell you that I was truly shocked what a sweet and helpful person she was. She talked me through it and was genuinely concerned about my problem. I wasn't sure I could do everything she told me, so Briana went a step further and gave me the email address and talked me through everything. I was able to get the photo off my cellphone and send them to her. She even stayed on the phone and told me the picture had arrived and said I should be able to send it in 24hours. I was actually able to send a pic that evening to Julia in Russia. Julia was thrilled to get the pic as she had asked me to please send her one. The tour was great! I now consider Gustavo and Andrea as friends. I met some great people during the tour, including several of the interpreters The 1st social was a little overwhelming and Gustavo was willing to make an adjustment to the format for the 2nd night, to allow us more time to mingle after the speed dating. The location and hotel were great and I can't wait to go back! I did meet a special lady. I think it was love at 1st sight for both of us. A different client asked her to the Sunday excursion before I could, so I waited my turn. She secretly told me that she only excepted his invite because she wanted to see me more & I hadn't asked (yet) It all worked out in the end with us having 3 dates in 4 nights!

I just got home from spending the past 9 days in Medellin and want to tell you what an amazing job all the staff in Colombia has done for me. It was one of the best things that I have ever done in my life!

I got your email address from Manuela at the Medellin office.

I used your company in the past many years ago with a trip to Ukraine. I had a nice time then, but I didn't meet anyone special. Things got tough for me financially and I had to wait for a long time until I could consider using AFA again.

Last summer, for some reason I cannot remember, I became interested in Colombian women. I started watching the videos on youtube and I signed up for the tour in Cartagena, Nov 2023.

I had an excellent experience then, and I thought I met someone I could have a long term relationship with, but that ended up not working out.

Then I was considering the Medellin tour coming up this June. But I kept watching the videos and I thought that for the price of 2 tours, I could get more focus on what I want and need, with the Elite Club.

I worked with Maria and Daniela with video conferences and video dates. They both really know the woman registered in your agency and were able to tell me which ones to avoid and which ones would be a good fit.

There was one woman I was very interested in, who I had 4 video dates with and I got her whatsapp number. I thought that was the only person I needed to see when I planned my trip. But Maria and Daniela both told me to continue with other video dates and they even planned many dates with different women for me to meet in person.

I have to tell you from the time I arrived in Medellin, until I returned home, I have not had better service with anything in my life.

I worked mostly with Manuela in Medellin setting up my dates and giving me advice and my interpreter was Valentina. They both did a great job. I had so many dates, that I couldn't believe it. I wasn't really looking for quantity, but I understand the process.

I met many women, but I feel like I have good chemistry with 4 of them. Each one of these women wanted to see me as much as possible. The toughest thing for me is having to tell them that I can't see them, because I already had a date planned with another women.

On my long trip home to Texas, I was able to think about what I should do next. One of the woman who I had chemistry with and saw on my last day in Medellin wanted me to decide on one person, but I told her I could not do that. When I got home, I determined that she would be my 4th choice, so I sent her a text telling her how wonderful I think she is, but I felt a stronger bond with someone else. It was very hard for me to do, but she was understanding.

So now I am still in contact with 3 women who I think are all amazing and I am going to have another video meeting with Maria soon, the figure out the next step.

I never thought I would have interest from such smart, beautiful women like these, and I am a little overwhelmed because two weeks ago I had no one interested in me romantically. Now I have 3!

Even if I came home "empty handed," and did not have any connections, I still would tell anyone that I had a great experience.
